Changes in Worship Due to COVID-19

We're trying to keep our worship service as consistent as possible while still protecting the health of our community. Our motto at Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church is "Exercising an overabundance of caution out of an overabundance of love." Whether you're ready to venture back to our sanctuary or still prefer to participate from home, we're glad you're joining us for worship!

Physical Worship

Our worship service has been shortened to limit the opportunity for the pandemic to spread. As always, you're welcome to come as you are! Currently, around 20-25 people, including leadership, are worshiping in the sanctuary. We take the following precautions to ensure everyone's health and safety:

  • Bulletins are located at the entrance and along the back of the back pews to minimize contact (please ask if you can't find them!)

    • You can also access a digital copy here.

  • Pews are taped off to ensure physical distancing during worship (families may sit together).

  • Hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes are located all around the sanctuary, including in pews.

  • As of November 2, Session has voted to resume congregational singing! We will be gradually increasing the amount of singing we do together so help us adjust to this major change!

  • Member Donna Oyama leads us in sign language responses to help us worship in new ways!

  • We have purchased air scrubbers to continuously purify and circulate the air.

  • We ask that everyone wear masks, including worship leadership, REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS. (it's helpful if you bring your own, but we have you covered if you forget!)

  • If you struggle to wear a mask for an extended amount of time AND ARE FULLY VACCINATED, we have set aside the first two pews for you to sit in if you need to unmask.

  • We no longer pass the offering plates. Instead, you're welcome to mail a check to our offices (406 S. 14th Ave., Caldwell, ID 83605) or to donate online through your checking or savings account, or with a debit or credit card. We're grateful for your continued financial support during this time!

  • The first Sunday of the month, we ask everyone to bring their own communion elements. Grape juice and bread is great, but so is crackers and apple juice, or cereal and milk - whatever you have at home! We'll have prepackaged elements if you forget.

It's a strange new normal, but we're grateful for the ability to continue worshiping in new ways to show our love for our neighbors!

Virtual Worship

Join us live on Sundays at 11:00 am Mountain Time on our Facebook Page. The bulletin is posted online ahead of time, so you can follow along from home. You can even participate in real time by sending a text to the pastor for prayer requests!

(Of course, if you're worshiping virtually from home, you're welcome to sing along and respond aloud to your heart's content!)

Christian Education

We're returning to in person Christian Ed (during worship) on September 12, 2021, but our Sunday School videos will remain online for you to access at any time.

If your family still isn't comfortable with in person Sunday School but want to join us in the sanctuary for worship, our tables will remain up in the back of the sanctuary (one table for each family unit) for you to color, create, or just get the wiggles out!

This is a difficult time for everyone, but we're committed to getting through it together as a community of God! We hope you'll join us in whatever way is comfortable for you!
