A Matthew 25 Church

In September 2020, the Session of Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church voted to become a Matthew 25 Church.
What Does This Mean?
In Matthew's Gospel, chapter 25 offers three different illustrations of the Kingdom of Heaven. The message is clear: the Church is called to act NOW with justice, mercy, and humility (Micah 6:8) to prepare for the coming of this Kingdom.
In seeking to live out Christ's instructions, the PCUSA has identified three specific objectives to focus on: building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty.
What Does This Mean for Boone Church?
Session voted to focus specifically on congregational vitality. We recognize that churches everywhere are trying to figure out how to live out Christ's mission in a way that's meaningful to humanity today, and that it's especially important in the current political and social climate of the USA. Boone Church is committed to finding new ways to reach out to the larger community of Caldwell, ID, to show that the body of Christ is still very much alive, and to show the world that Christ's message of radical, unconditional love is relevant to all of us today.
Furthermore, we recognize that "congregational vitality" means engaging in the needs of our larger community, and so we intend to incorporate aspects of the other two objectives in our efforts.
